A nun's murder and missing antique silver place the threatened future of Midsomer Priory under investigation.
After an ancient stained-glass window at Midsomer Priory is vandalised, the nuns consider selling valuable antique silver to pay for repairs. Mother Thomas Aquinas is then murdered and the silver disappears, making theft and the priory's precarious finances the obvious starting points.
Barnaby and Jones examine the ownership of the land, the community's benefactors and a chain of events reaching back three decades. Knowing the killer's identity is not enough: the detectives still need evidence strong enough to survive outside the cloister.
