Accessibility statement

A casebook everyone should be able to open.

This voluntary statement explains the practical steps taken to make The Village Murder Casebook easier to use and the work that remains.

Current status
No formal conformance claim

The site aims to follow WCAG 2.2 Level AA principles, but it has not yet had a formal independent accessibility audit. It therefore does not claim full WCAG conformance.

01

What has been considered

Pages use semantic headings and landmarks, descriptive link text, labelled form controls, text alternatives for meaningful images, visible keyboard focus and responsive layouts. Motion is limited and the main archive does not require an account.

02

Known limitations

Some portraits are delivered by Wikimedia Commons and may not load when a network blocks that service. Third-party maps and booking destinations have their own accessibility behaviour. Historical filming records vary in precision, so some case files identify an exact building while others can only identify the wider village or area.

03

Feedback and assistance

A dedicated public contact address has not yet been configured. This statement must be updated with a working accessibility contact before the site is promoted as a public commercial service.

04

Preparation and review

This statement was prepared on 5 September 2026 from an internal review of templates and common interactions. It will be reviewed after major design changes and when a permanent contact route is added.

Reference points

Standards and UK guidance.

This is a practical statement for an independent private website, not a public-sector compliance declaration.
