Commercial transparency · UK-focused

Affiliate and commercial disclosure.

This page explains how earning links would work, how they are labelled and what remains independent. It was last reviewed on 31 August 2026.

Current status
No affiliate earning links are currently active.

Current publisher, museum, programme and tour-provider links are ordinary external links and do not pay The Village Murder Casebook a commission.

01

How affiliate links work

If you follow a link marked “Ad · affiliate link” and make a qualifying purchase, the merchant or affiliate network may pay The Village Murder Casebook a commission. The Village Murder Casebook does not add a fee to the merchant's price. The price, availability and final checkout terms shown by the merchant control.

02

How commercial links are identified

An earning link is labelled at or immediately before the link; a disclosure hidden only in the footer is not treated as enough. Labels such as “Ad · affiliate link”, “Advertisement” or “Sponsored” are used where appropriate. Ordinary links are described as “no commission”.

03

Editorial independence

Commission does not buy a favourable review, ranking or inclusion. Locations, books and tours are selected for relevance to the guide. Commercial partners do not approve editorial conclusions. A link is not a guarantee, endorsement or promise that a product, venue or operator will suit every visitor.

04

Purchases, prices and disputes

Your purchase is made from the named third-party merchant, not from The Village Murder Casebook. The merchant is responsible for its descriptions, prices, payment processing, availability, delivery, cancellations, returns and refunds. Check its current terms before buying. Nothing on this page limits rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

05

Tracking, cookies and data

The site does not currently place non-essential affiliate-tracking cookies. An affiliate URL may contain a referral identifier, and a third-party site may use its own cookies or similar technology after you choose to visit it. Its privacy and cookie notices apply there. If The Village Murder Casebook later places non-essential tracking on this site, it will provide appropriate information and obtain consent before that technology is used where required.

06

Reports and payment information

An affiliate network may provide aggregated reports such as clicks, qualifying bookings and commission totals. The Village Murder Casebook does not receive your card details from a normal affiliate purchase. Do not send payment information to the Casebook.

07

Operator and contact details

No earning links should be activated until the site operator's legal or trading name and a working contact address have been added here. This is a launch requirement, not decorative small print.

08

Changes and scope

Partners, commission arrangements and tracking practices can change. This disclosure will be updated when a commercial programme is activated or materially altered. It is a practical transparency statement for this site, not a substitute for programme terms or advice about the operator's individual legal and tax position.

Official guidance

Rules behind the policy

The wording follows the UK principle that marketing communications must be obviously identifiable and that non-essential storage or access technology may require consent.
