Grady Felton served a prison sentence for killing Daniel Denning while insisting that he was innocent. On release he returns to Binwell, where the people he blamed for his conviction—including Ben Jones, then a constable—are named on a death list and start becoming murder victims.
Grady's alibis prevent Barnaby from accepting the obvious solution, and an arson attack against him further complicates the pattern. Jones must revisit the original investigation while new deaths ask whether the list is a plan, a frame or an attempt to correct an older injustice.
