About the real place
Chesham is a Chiltern market town set in the Chess valley, with recorded history reaching back more than a thousand years. The old town around St Mary's Church, the market area and surviving historic shopfronts contrasts with later growth along the valley and around the station.
It is one of the easiest locations to reach without a car because it sits at the end of the Metropolitan line. Local self-guided history trails help distinguish the older filming streets from the modern town centre, while paths along the River Chess open up a different side of the landscape.
