The Lee village green

The Lee village green is an open space at the heart of a cluster of Chiltern communities north of Great Missenden. A large sandstone boulder set on a pedestal is a distinctive feature of the green. Today, the green is best enjoyed as part of a walk through the surrounding lanes and footpaths, with woodland and fields close by. Its open, communal character makes it a natural Midsomer setting. The best-known role is the centre of fictional Tamworth Springs in The Stitcher Society; it also hosts an outdoor art class in Painted in Blood and a comic convention in Drawing Dead.

The green gives the village a shared outdoor room, with enough space for everyday encounters as well as the unusual events imagined by the series. Walkers can link The Lee with nearby Chiltern paths, while respecting the village’s quiet roads and private homes. The visitor information below points to the local guidance before you plan a visit.
