The owners of Karras Games assemble at their remote manor for an elaborate murder-mystery weekend. After Victor Karras dies on the stairs beneath a falling statue, severe weather cuts off the estate and leaves Barnaby and Winter investigating inside a closed circle of relatives and associates.
Questions about the company, Victor's legacy and Eleanor Karras's plans for her unborn child complicate the apparent accident. A second killing confirms that the weekend's staged clues are competing with a very real family contest over belonging and control.

Alicia MathesonAlicia poisoned Victor Karras's vape and dosed her own teacup lightly so that suspicion would fall on her pregnant sister Eleanor. She then lured Hugo Welles to the dining room, stabbed him and planted Eleanor's charm after he began piecing together the poisoned vape; her mistaken belief that Eleanor meant to keep the baby drove the framing scheme.
Verified motive
Alicia believed Eleanor intended to keep the baby she was carrying for her. Unable to harm her pregnant sister directly, Alicia killed Victor and framed Eleanor so the child would be given to Alicia, then killed Hugo when his reconstruction of the poisoned vape threatened to expose the scheme; Alicia's belief was based on a misunderstood nursery estimate and conversation.
