Why it matters

Famous for its murder method, but equally important as the final regular case for Ben Jones.

A dairy dispute and fiercely competitive school parents culminate in the programme's most notorious wheel of cheese.

Midsomer Pastures is proud of its Midsomer Blue cheese until Debbie Moffett is lured into the dairy caves and killed with an enormous wheel. Barnaby and Jones investigate disputed modernisation plans at the dairy and a network of parents connected to the village preparatory school.

Further deaths expose relationships linking the school, the cheesemakers and families determined to protect their social standing. The absurd weapon is memorable, but the evidence comes from much quieter inconsistencies in the histories people tell about their children and one another.

Break the seal: reveal the finding

The dairy's future and the school's social pressures conceal a long-held family secret. Barnaby links the victims through parentage, reputation and the efforts made to control both.

Where multiple transmission dates are listed, territory attribution needs checking. What was filmed where?

Building identities are cross-checked against the Casebook's published filming-location references. A named match describes the part used on screen, not the whole village and not necessarily an interior.
