Beyond the camera
About the real place
Hurley lies close to the Thames between Marlow and Henley. The village grew around a medieval Benedictine priory, fragments of which survive near the parish church, and its High Street retains old houses and inns that reflect a long connection with travellers and the river.
The Thames Path and nearby lock add a landscape element to the historic centre, although river conditions and path access should be checked after poor weather. Hurley is compact enough to explore quietly on foot and combines naturally with other river locations rather than requiring a separate full-day visit.
