Tilly Mulroney is discovered on the first night of the Angel's Rise Psychic Fayre, surrounded by symbols that appear to give the killing a ritual meaning. A tarot card points suspicion towards reader Simeon Dagley, but his own death shows that the symbolism may be evidence planted for an audience.
Barnaby and Winter test claims made by psychics and traders while tracing the earlier death of Bea Saint-Stephens. What happened to Bea provides the missing history behind the fair's present alliances and hostilities.
