Munden Estate

Munden Estate lies near Watford, where open parkland and gardens surround a private family home. A Roman settlement stood on the site, including a villa excavated in the 1950s; the Manor of Meriden is mentioned in 1097. Munden House is known to pre-date 1795, with later nineteenth-century additions and gardens laid out in the early 1800s. The estate remains a lived-in family property and is not open to the public. On screen, the grounds and house supply a sense of scale and privacy. The best-known Midsomer role is Haddington Hall in Vixen’s Run; the estate also represents Marwood Manor and Germaine Troughton’s house.

The long drive, mature trees and broad estate setting help explain why the location reads so convincingly as a country residence.
