About the real place
Long Crendon is a large Buckinghamshire village whose long High Street explains the first part of its name. Timber-framed houses, substantial later homes and small lanes create a varied architectural backdrop, while the medieval courthouse is a rare surviving example of an early local court building.
The courthouse is cared for by the National Trust and has limited opening arrangements, so it should be checked separately. Even when it is closed, the village can be explored from public streets and paths, with the church, green and historic centre giving a good sense of why it can portray both prosperous and apparently sleepy Midsomer communities.
