Dorney Court

Dorney Court is an early Tudor manor house in the village of Dorney, still lived in by the Palmer family. The house dates from around 1440, and its story stretches back to the period of William the Conqueror; family ownership later passed through several hands before Sir William Garrard bought it in 1537. Its timber-framed exterior, historic rooms and gardens offer a vivid sense of a lived-in country house rather than a museum set. That real domestic character carries across Midsomer’s shifting screen roles. Its best-known appearance is as Bantling Hall in Bantling Boy; it has also played family homes, an aristocratic residence and the Fox & Goose Hotel.

Dorney’s lanes and surrounding countryside make the house part of a broader village visit, while the house itself blends centuries of furnishings and family history. On screen, that mix of intimate rooms and formal frontage can suggest both everyday family life and country-house status. The visitor information below lists current public opening arrangements.
