Steve Pemberton co-created and starred in The League of Gentlemen and, with Reece Shearsmith, Inside No. 9. Both series made inventive use of horror, comedy and tightly plotted twists.
He has also appeared in Benidorm and a wide range of television dramas. The Midsomer role brings a writer-performer closely associated with dark storytelling into another long-running mystery series.
