Performer biography
Hugh Bonneville is best known as Robert Crawley in Downton Abbey and Mr Brown in the Paddington films. His wide-ranging television work also includes Twenty Twelve and W1A, supported by substantial stage and film experience.
Bonneville trained at the Webber Douglas Academy and worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre before becoming a familiar screen lead. Downton Abbey made Robert Crawley a signature role; the Paddington films showed his gift for warm family comedy. Twenty Twelve and W1A displayed a drier satirical side of his work.
